I am pleased to introduce myself as the new Assistant Principal and look forward to working with you during this upcoming school year. I am excited to serve with Ms. Hicks and our staff to provide a high quality, engaging, and relevant educational experience to every student. It is my belief that it is important to provide a supportive environment for learning so that all can succeed. The Hurt Park Elementary community which we serve is vibrant, passionate, caring, and supportive and I look forward to the partnerships which we can form.
Educationally, I have Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and in Communication and Conflict Resolution from Juniata College in Pennsylvania. I received my Collegiate Professional teaching license through Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. I completed my Masters in Education Administration from Liberty University in 2014.
I come to Roanoke City Public Schools from Louisa County where I taught the past eleven years. I have five years of teaching experience at both the elementary and middle School level, as well as a year in high school. Beyond teaching, I was the head coach for the Boys’ soccer and Girls’ volleyball teams.
Again, I am thankful and blessed to be here with such a caring school community and achieving great things in the 2016-17 school year.
I am proud to be part of the Hurt Park Elementary Husky team.
